Heya,
This DA account is ooold and yet this is my first journal entry! Anyway, I really hadn't used it for a few years until recently when I decided to bring out the jumper cables and kick it alive again. It's just as well for me to make it a little friendlier with an introduction for anyone interested...anyone? ...Lol.
I'm Elvin, born and bred in Singapore, Land of the rich (I'm not one of them heh) where the cost of cars and houses will stop even a Hollywood star from pulling out his/her chequebook! It's almost a crime here not to grow up and be part of the system so there are only a few of us comic book types around since kids aren't really encouraged to be creative. I studied Graphic Design and was working as a designer for a time. But after a few years, I decided I wanted to have a go as a freelance illustrator which hopefully would give me spare time to focus on the real ambition of being involved in comic books. I started out throwing myself into superhero drawing styles, but along the way learned to appreciate the indie circle as well (which is evident when you see how different some of my work can be haha). I'm hoping to have a chance to participate in both. I love all kinds of comic books too much to remain in one genre heh.
Thus far, I'm still chasing the dream and am very happy to have contributed short stories twice in Liquid City Volumes 2 & 3 by Image Comics. Volume 2 was nominated for an Eisner so that was an awesome moment for all us contributors
Fingers crossed for a volume 3 nomination!
